Friends of Palmetto Island State Park are asking for donations to help host the 8th Annual “Stir the Pot: Louisiana Seafood Cook-off and Festival”.  The proceeds from the festival go towards enhancement projects and providing events and programs at the park for visitors and locals to enjoy.  Some examples of enhancements include large projects such as the playground next to the splash pad and smaller projects like bike racks, providing running water and fans to the pavilions and repairing the pump for the splash pad.  We also host several programs that are free to the public that include a Crackling Cooking demonstration and a Halloween Celebration that bring in thousands of people to the park and to our parish. 

The Sponsorship Committee is seeking tax-deductible corporate and individual sponsorships at four different levels: $750, $500, $250 and $100. In-kind donations of items suitable for raffles or auctions are also appreciated and tax deductible. Sponsorships will help cover the cost associated with putting on the event.  Sponsorships received after the deadline (February 9th)may not be included on the festival’s printed promotional flyer. All proceeds will be placed into the Friends of Palmetto Island State Park fund. 

The festival will be on Saturday, April 7, 2018 and the day’s festivities begin at 10 a.m. and will include a seafood and wild game cook-off, music by The Cajun Company Band from 1- 5 p.m., nature-related booths, demonstrations, raffles, silent and live auctions and a fun-filled family day at the state park.
